~~~ Dog behind fence: ruff ruff ruff....ruff ruff me: (click click.....click) Dog behind fence: (more intently now) ruff ruff ruff....ruff ruff ruff ruff ruff....ruff ruff ruff ruff ruff....ruff ruff me: (click click.....click) Man behind fence: Roscoe! What's going on out there? Man behind fence: (peering around fence) What's going on out here? me: (pointing at knothole in fence) Oh, I'm sorry, I was just taking a picture of your fence. Man peering around fence: My fence? Well that doesn't seem very interesting. me: Its not (then trying to add levity to a tense encounter) but maybe if you had something interesting that showed through the peephole? Man peering around fence: Is that your bike? me: (hopeful that maybe he wants to put my bike in the peephole view, which is a little trite, but since when has trite stopped me) Yes, it is! Man peering around fence: Then maybe you should ride it to somewhere more interesting and take pictures there. ~~~
Love your story....I often wonder what non photographers think about those of us who find ourselves in strange positions and places in order to get our pics..... beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....I think its a lovely hole...and you pictured it nicely...if that is not too too trite... Seen in I was blind etc
That's brilliant---can picture the scene and it's making me smile! You should get it enlarged and take it proudly along to show him, then click his reaction-- now that would be a shot!! There is something showing in the peep hole, what is it? Love how you have captured the beauty of aged timber with that lovely deep grain...lovely job :)
Hmm, if you weren't supposed to look through the fence, why does it have a knothole? -- Seen on your photo stream. (?)
gg - It looked like a stable, but it was hard to tell and Roscoe kept barking at me when I would get close and peep through it. There was a saddle on the little fence in the peephole that I kept trying to get, but just couldn't get the angle on the dangle to do it.
LOL! great story... & photo! You should have taken a photo of "Man behind fence" with Roscoe the dog. I had a fierce dog barking only a few inches from my .. uh.. (pants) when I took this pic... At least there were no odd people to also deal with ;)
Fantastic image and story ~ so easy to picture the entire scene. Poor Roscoe, stuck with that irritable human!
haha, your story makes this photo more interesting.
This is perfect as is. Having a bike or a saddle visible through the knot hole would ruin it. The barely-discernable object in the background draws attention to the knot hole instead of distracting from it. The subject is the fence. The photo works precisely because we can't tell what is behind the fence.
Haha, excellent! You made art with 'just a hole in a fence.' I found it very interesting!
