Love the angle you have taken this at....superb composition. It's as if you are on a bike behind and tilting the camera to the right as if the camera were your handle bars. Well, that's how I see it. Those clouds are incredible too !

wow... the sky and field are amazing (not to speak of the whole shot!) - how did you do this? simple tone mapping? i'm stunned...
Sabine wrote...
the backdrop for this race was amazing and the weather was part stormy/sunny.. I was supposed to be taking pics of this time trial, but I kept running around taking landscapes instead. At least in this one, I got both. He was the only one I really wanted to catch anyway. His crazy all white skinsuit makes him look like a misplaced cloud.
The oncoming pic is here, after I took this, I spun around and took the picture above
and Michael's story on the event is here

limando, thank you.
I was going for a dreamlike effect. I used photoshop elements. I used a gradient layer to darken the sky and mimic a polarizer (which I couldn't use at the time because I needed all available light for action). I desaturated and took some lightness out of the green, but added a touch to the yellows. I think I destaturated the sky a bit too. (sometimes I can't remember what I did) Then I finished it off with lots of burning and some dodging. In this case, the scenery was incredible and it did most of the work.

The blue sky and yellow mustard grass are amazing, but i'm not so sure about that white skin suit. He's a goof.
Sabine wrote...
crazytallblonde - no, the sky's not fake (this time anyway) a few comments above I explain what I did to the sky and how conditions were part stormy/sunny.

hey eric
we love coming down to visalia/exeter for the races. gorgeous foothills. And early spring seems the perfect time to visit. Can you place the road? Its Rocky Hill (or something like that...) Leads to a very pretty valley. The TT went almost to the firestation and back. Pretty and tough.
amd thank you
