Top of Hecker Pass, Watsonville, CA

Its Sunset Sunday!

I have no idea if I actually will post a sunset every sunday, but for now, it gives me an excuse to indulge in my favorite kitsch.

This was taken at the Mt Madonna Inn parking lot at the top of Hecker Pass on Highway 152. Its part of my daily commute, and now that the days are lengthening, this is what I sometimes see on the way home.

Oh my word...Outrageously gorgeous. That's the sort of image that makes me glad to be alive. I love the lighter evenings we are now getting, gives more time to enjoy the outside and all it has to offer...I'm liking Watsonville, CA :)

I totally stopped and watched this one. We had just had a storm and it was still sort of raining (you can see a little virga in the background). There was on other car in the lot watching. He was an older gentleman who was driving in the other direction before he stopped. We chatted philosophically about everything from how humans chnaged the world when we moved from hunter gatherers to the wild pigs that have taken over our local hills...and everything in between. I don't normally wax philosophic, but something about watching this sort of sight brings it out I guess. I tried to get a pic or two of my sunset buddy, but I'm not so good with the people pics.
